Marisa was born and raised in sunny Newport Beach, California. 

Daughter of screen legend John Wayne, she grew up being active and outdoors on their boat, The Wild Goose and playing tennis daily at the John Wayne Tennis Club with her mother, Pilar. She studied Health & Fitness Technology and Exercise Science at Colorado Mountain College, in Steamboat Springs and has been teaching group fitness since the late 1980’s. Having previously founded and operated, GritCycle, in Southern California, she always wanted to recreate that magic in Texas and, with Sabrina and Bill, her dream became possible. 

 

 

So, what are Marisa’s classes like? She plays a mix of genres but, if you don’t like country, avoid her class; she plays at least a song or two every class! She is high-energy and loves a fun figure 8. She feels there’s nothing better than having someone come up after class and say that they’ve never liked exercise, but now they schedule their lives around it, ha.

 

When she’s not on the podium, you can find Marisa on a pickleball court, watching football, hanging at home with her kids and dogs, probably cooking and enjoying some tasty Pinot Noir.
